Infadility and betrayal...!!!

This weeks lecture was based on infidelity..!! My understanding of infidelity is to be unfaithful to someone, for instance your boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, etc.

Some people had different ideas of the term. Some believed that having a one night stand with someone was not really classed as cheating, however if someone was to have a long-term affair, it would then be classed as cheating/betrayal..!!! I disagree completely...cheating is cheating at the end of the day, if you are going out with someone or even married and you so much kiss another person in a passionate way, in my eyes, that is being unfaithful.

But to go even deeper, it starts within the heart, even if you have not physically touched someone else, before someone acts something out, they go there in their mind first, all of us do, for instance, if you're sat on a chair having a cup of tea, then decide to get up to turn the T.V on, you plan it in your mind first. So a person isn't just betraying someone by cheating physically, it starts from when they think about acting it out. Even Jesus said so in Matthew 5:28 " ...Whosoever looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart"

We watched clips from a couple of films with the betrayal theme... one of them was from 'Closer'. A man had confessed to his wife that he had been cheating on her, she did not get angry because she had been cheating on him also...!!! In fact he was more angrier with her because she'd been cheating for longer with someone he knew.

In the other clip taken from 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being... What does it mean to live in truth?' A couple are having an open relationship, both of them are fine with each other seeing and having sex with other people. However, the man that the women is having an affair with isn't so open about his infidelity to his actual wife, and talks as if he cares and loves his wife and wants to protect her feelings, when he is probably only looking out for himself.

I think its absolutely disgusting...!!! I can't believe that people would even do such a thing, why can't they just be satisfied with who they are with and control their lust...? That's all it is at the end of the day...LUST...and its gonna get alot of people hurt and destroyed...!!!!

I must say that I completey disagree with what Lucy says about it being ok to cheat on a partner just because they are boring in bed. Why not talk to them about it instead of doing the dirty on them.

It is such a selfish act. I know a couple who has had this done to them, and it didn't only hurt them but their loved ones also. I'm sorry that this has happened to you Lucy, and as you have experienced the hurt from someone cheating on you, i'm suprised that you still say that it is ok...
