Being "too" religious..

This lecture was interesting...! Our lecturer started of with a prayer, which was very different. However, I was quite happy for him to be doing this as I myself am a person who takes time to pray... But, I wasn't sure if he was being serious or not.

Afterwards he asked how we felt about his prayer. Some people said they felt angry and confused, which I can understand because not everyone believes in God, so they felt angry that they were forced to sit and listen to the lecturer whilst he prayed.

One person said they felt uplifted because they were a prayerful person... I was happy about it too, although it was quite unusual for a lectuerer to pray in a lecture.

Accessive religious behaviour seems to be untrendy, can be deadly-serious, and can make other people feel uncomfortable.

I don't think that there are many religous people in this country today. Statistics show that there has been a decline in church attendance/membership.
I don't that this generation has bee brought up with the fear or knowledge of God, which is one reason why there is not much people in church these days.
People prefer to go out for entertainment, get drunk, sleep around, etc. Therefore, they don't have time for Church/God...

Todays Laws seem to be trying to get rid of religion, especially Christianity - I think this is because alot people take offense if the they hear preachers preaching about sin, and saying that they will go to hell if they do not repent and accpet Jesus...( This is what I believe, and what I know to be true by the way) and obviously people don't like to hear this being preached because the truth hurts...

I wouldn't call myself a religious person, although I am firm believer in Christ, the Bible, etc. I think that the worlds view on Christianity has been altered and is not true. Many people see God as a cruel god, when in fact, He is loving, caring and compassionate towards His people, however, He is also the Judge of the world and will one day judge us, which is why you may hear people preaching to others to get their lives right before that day...

There are alot of religions in the world today that people seem to be following, there are also alot of cults. I like neither of them, religions and cults are vain, they have no real meaning.
I say this not about Christianity because Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Religion does not offer people a relationship with God, most of them is based on praying a number of times a day, some of them dictate how you should dress, what you can and can't eat, etc. But not Christianity, God cares more about what is in our hearts, and wants us to have a close relationship with HIM...

The book of Mormon is quite interesting, it's how we came to be called mormons. It is the writings of many prophets from the ancient America's from 600BC to 400AD when they were compiled by a prophet historian called Mormon. It teaches about Christ and his teachings, just as the old and new testament do, it is another testament of Jesus Christ. It was trnaslated into English by a young man called Joseph Smith whom God visited in a vision and called to be a prophet in our day.
Thats a brief summary anyway, hope it answers your question.

You raise a lot of interesting and important points, particularly when you said "Todays laws seem to be trying to get rid of religion". I can understand laws changing so that they no longer conform to only one religion as we live in a society which must embrace all religions but i hope that the law will never take away the morals and principles that religion teaches as they are timeless.

hMM, Thats interesting. What confuses me is that in the book of Revelation, Jesus say's w"whoever adds to this book, to him will be added the plagues written in the book..." Or something like that, so, don't you see the "another testament of Christ" as adding to what is already written in the bible?
And do you believe that only those who follow the Mormon religion will be accepted into heaven?

I don't mean to sound rude if it comes across that way, just interested!
