Bandits and outlaws

Although they commit crime and violence in society, social bandits are sometimes considered as good guys because they look out for other people. For example, Robin Hood, a bandit from back in the day, stole of the rich to give to the poor, this could be seen as a bad thing, but also a good thing because he isn't doing it for himself but for other people who are less fortunate.

Personally, I don't agree with it simply because a crime is a crime at the end of the day. If something is wrong, it's wrong, it doesn't matter what the motives were behind it, it's still wrong.
HOWEVER, I must admit that when I watch a film with good vs bad and the good guy does something like commit a crime against the bad guy, I'll be cheering the "good" guy on, even though he may have done something wrong to the bad guy, simply because nobody wants the "bad" guy to win..!

Some other examples of bandits are:

  • Jess James

  • Billie the Kid

  • Pretty Boy Floyd

  • Ned Kelly

  • Phodan Devi- Bandit Queen

I think that there is a tendency to glamerise crime in the majority of films and it could be stated that the good guys are really bad guys also, but they do bad things with a good motive.

Bad cinema.

Unfortunatley, I did not attend the lecture that showed the film at the light house.

I've read a bit about the film though. It sounds quite deep and seems to be a reflection of reality. I like films that are true to life. They can be quite upsetting and disturbing at times, but they are showing real life.
Personally, I think that a film is crossing the border when it has too much scenes with a sexual content and very foul language, especially if it's not an 18 certificate.
But, back to the Kids film, I read that they have a scene where a child is getting raped, allthough these things happen in real life, I sometimes think to myself, how old the kids are when they are acting scenes like that. They may be actors, but they are still kids and shouldn't be taking part in scenes like that before there time. I think it can have an effect on the child, it could make them act too mature before their time, causing to miss out on the things they should really be doing as Kids!

Bad Comedian

Our Western society is full of comedians. We have some good ones, and some bad ones. To me a bad comedian is one who makes people laugh at somebody elses expense, and I think that alot of comedians do this. A great example is from 'The Nutty Professor' where Regee, the comeidan has his audience in stitches as goes around the room making jokes about people's hair styles, weight, etc. The Nutty Professor, played by Eddie Murphy, looks very hurt and upset about this.
To me, this is a reflection of what really goes on in ourt society. I think that some comedians hurt alot of peoples feelings by making jokes about them. People may try to laugh it off, but deep down they are hurting.
There's nothing wrong with having a laugh, but when it's because of another persons, or a group of people's differences, it shouldn't be done in my opinon.

Personally, I also think that the reason why the majority of comedians have a career in stand up comedy is due to their own insecurities, and to take peoples eyes of their personal insecurties they make their audiences laugh by pointing out other peoples.

Body Modification

As a Christian, I think that certain types of body modification are wrong and un-neccessary.
I don't really think that there is anything wrong with piercing as along as it is done modestly, like piercing the ears, etc. I think that it becomes wrong when it's done excessively. It's sort of like eating, it's not wrong to eat, but when done execessively it becomes unhealthy.

I think that invasive modification is wrong to a certain extent. For instance, someone having a sex change, i don't agree with at all. However, if someone has to have an operation to add a limb that they were born without, I personally don't think that's wrong because it's not their fault that they were born that way, and it's something that will benefit them.

Again, as a Christian, I wouldn't have a tatoo or do anymore piercings as I've already got my ears pierced.

I know that we are all individuals and have our own bodies and many people think that they can do what ever they please with their bodies, but I believe that we should treat our bodies like temples. Some of the things that people do to themselves makes me think that they are craving for attention, e.g. piercing or tatooing excessively.
